ATV Park for everyone � Alligator Run ATV Park (TX)

Every once in a while, mud gets a little exciting…especially when all you’ve ridden all year is around kiddy parks. Hence, Alligator Run ATV Park seemed like such a great idea to me when a friend recommended it. Never heard of this Texas ATV before in my life but 5,200 acres sounds like a fabulous ride for me. I was like on an ATV sabbatical on work and traveling all year through and was looking forward for some mud-wrestling with the kid next door who was always poking his nose into my window.

Anyway, instead of mud wrestling, I got a mean time ATVing with my family at Alligator Run Park…which was awesome for everyone since there’s something for ATV enthusiasts of all skill levels…not too hard and not too easy either…unless you’re a hard core Alborn-Pengilly freak, then, you’re going to be so bored!

Anyway, it’s a really fun ATV park with loads of sand in some parts and then loads of mud on some other parts with a nice balance of creeks too. only thing missing was the climbing of hills but I guess if you want hills, you head on over somewhere else for that. ATVing on hills is a killer for kids and wifeys. The fact that there is great expanse of space and plenty of room for camping makes Alligator Run Park the perfect place for family ATV holidays. Perhaps, we would have loved it even more if it was cleaner, with less trash around the park but overall, we could live with that.

Remember, we’re talking about an ATV park spanning over 5,200 acres, so, the risk of getting lost is incredibly high here. You’d better come with people who knows their way around, have a map or don’t come until you download a map. And if you have kids and beginner ATV riders with you, getting lost is akin to a catastrophe. But many families make their way here to ride their ATVs once or twice every year because one can never quite get enough of this place because by the time you leave, you’ll leave the ATV park with a deep and nagging feeling that you’re not done. I don’t know…maybe it’s just me.

Some people complained that there were very few restrooms and modern modern facilities but I found this to be untrue. I found quite a number of RV camping ground, primitive camping places with showers, restrooms, pavilion and cabins. Maybe they’re new…who knows? Alligator Run ATV Park is gaining popularity and last I heard, they’re planning to open a branch somewhere else.

I thought it was worth mentioning that the speed limit on Alligator Run ATV Park is 5mph and they DO keep a very unforgiving eye on ATVers, so, look at your meter at all times.
