Scenic ATV holiday in Casto Canyon, Utah

Casto Canyon in Utah is a no brainer for expert ATV riders. We thought we’d get the negative stuff out of the way before we whip out the good stuff…so now that it’s done, here’s our take on Casto Canyon Utah Trail. AWESOME! Although the trail isn’t as challenging as we wanted it to be but you can be sure that this is the kind of ATV trail that you can take beginner ATV riders to (for example, kids and beginner ATV riders) and yet, you will never feel bored there. the scenery is ever so amazing…as hot as it is over there in Utah, the trail showcases looming, gargantuan rocks rising authoritatively around you forming walls of resistance. Even the most skeptical will at least smile or be in awe of what nature has bestowed on this part of the United States. Absolutely enchanting. At one point, at the lower part of this ATV trail, the smell of fir and long-leaf pine lured one of us to stick out face into the tree barks and sniff! The overwhelming smell of vanilla is irresistible.

Hence, it’s safe to say that this is not the kind of ATV trail in Utah that you want use to challenge yourself but more of an ATV trail where you can bring the whole brood over for a fun and shutter-happy holiday over in Utah. It’s presents you with the chance to bond closely with other family members through ATV riding.

Although it isn’t a technically challenging ride, this Utah ATV trail holds your interest with its looming stones, clear pines and cedar provides instant shade to hot and bothered ATV riders while holiday-goers can happily indulge in photo taking all along this Utah ATV trail. These orange walls were formed some 40 million years ago, folks, so, they’re here toyou’re your socks off. There are couple of dips, turns and climbs along this ATV trail where more experienced ATV riders might have to offer assistance to the less experienced ones but overall, it’s a pretty easy ride.


The ATV trail remains accessible throughout the year but you may want to consider taking the family to this Utah ATV trail when the snow starts to melt away. That would be around May each year.

Difficulty level of this ATV trail
There was mixed feedback from those who have ridden the ATV trail but most of us agree that it is relatively safe and easy to ride. Casto Canyon runs low during the first portion of the trail with quite a fair bit of stream crossings. So, be careful if you’re bringing along the kids especially if there are riding their kids ATV. Small wheels and light bodies makes crossing streams quite a challenge.

The climb up wasn’t all that noticeable because the altitude change was very gradual. In general, the Casto Canyon ATV trail isn’t a very long one, so, for those who crave for more should take the fork off at the single track midway riding past Casto Springs, the Fremont ATV trail and the end of the Northern part of this ATV trail. This way, you will be at an altitude of 8,000 feet.

Tips on riding the Casto Canyon ATV trail
Dirt is inevitable when riding this ATV trail because dirt is like your neighbor over here. Before you pile your ATV back into your truck, clean up the chain and rid it of caked up dirt. In fact, we were forewarned and packed a small bottle of chain lube with us for the ATV trip.
