Like the name implies, Power Line Motorized Trail for ATVs in Colorado follows the power lines that run along Rampart Range Road. To find it, travel southwest out of Sedalia on Highway 67 until you reach the junction with Rampart Range and here the ATV trail begins.
At an elevation of 1,040 feet, this trail is not for the faint of heart (or breath). The ATV trail is about 7.7 miles long and the degree of difficulty is strictly for intermediate to expert ATVers.
Plan to park your ATV at the Cabin Ridge Picnic grounds for lunch. This is a good time to freshen up on rules for ATVers in your copy of Treadlightly, a friendly list of environmental do's and don'ts. Be sure to enquire about park regulations for the area, and it's a good idea to carry a map and a compass as you get further into the ATV trail. You should practice the golden rule of outdoor recreation, leaving the are better than you found it. Remember to have your ATV permit ready and easily available for park rangers, and double check your ATV's spark arrestor.
The season here runs from spring through winter and there is plenty to do besides ATVing. Motorheads will be happy to know that motorcycling is allowed. Mountain bikers wishing to test their mettle should find the ATV trails challenging. For those who feel the need to let the seat on their ATV cool off, hiking can be a pleasant change, and it's far better for seeing Mother Nature up close. Power Line Motorized ATV Trail is just one of many great ATV trails throughout Colorado state. Happy trails to you!
