What could be more fun than riding your ATV at Sand Wash Basin? Tucked into the northwest Moffat County region of Colorado, near Maybell, this prime set of ATV trails is easy to reach from Highway 318.
Modern day cowboys can saddle up their ATVs and ride the range... uh, we mean trails... because Sand Wash Basin is chocked full of dirt roads just begging you to rev up your ATV and set off into the wilderness. Just be careful to watch the weather though. This area can become a mud bath when it rains.
There's nothing like the view from your ATV as you travel through rolling sagebrush covered hills, and amazing sandstone canyons. Imagine breathing the pristine air as you and your ATV pause for a moment on a mountain peak. Truly, this is some of the greatest country you'll ever cover on an ATV.
The Sand Wash Basin ATV trails area is home to a bounty of wildlife. While riding your ATV you'll have the opportunity to see large herds of elk, deer, wild horses and pronghorn antelope, as well as mountain lions, bears, and bald eagles.
And if you're ATVing at Sand Wash this Autumn, you may want to
make a stop at the Annual Golden Leaf Festival held each September.
Sand Wash Basin is truly an ATVer's paradise. You can spend your days on your ATV, then spend the evenings sitting around the campfire with your friends at the Maybell Park Campgrounds. This campground offers ATVers a restaurant, general store, and most importantly, showers so you can wash off that dirt from the ATV trail. The campgound is open from May 1 to November 15 with 45 campsites available.
See the world from your ATV, and be sure to see beautiful Sand Wash Basin.
