To get to this awesome ATV trail from the Twin Lakes Village area, ATVers will need to head 8 miles west of Twin Lakes Village on Highway 82 to South Fork Lake Creek Road. This is Forest Road 391 and will be on the left (south) side of the highway.
The ATV trail winds around the valley floor of the South Fork of Lake Creek. South Fork Lake Creek Road provides ATV riders with excellent opportunities to see a variety of wildlife as well as a spectacular display of wild flowers in season. And ATV enthusiasts who also enjoy camping will be happy to know that there are several campgrounds to rough it at along the route.
The beginning of the ATV trail takes you through some private property so show respect for the owners and stay on the road, and try to keep the noise and dust to a minimum. Careless operation of your ATV could result in closure of the trail.
ATVers who choose to take advantage of the camping opportunities should keep a few environmental tips in mind. Practice minimum impact camping by using established sites when available, and minimize the use of fire. ATVers should also observe proper sanitary disposal methods and bury waste 6 to 8 inches deep and at least 200 feet away from campsites, trails and water sources.
ATV riders will also need the proper permit to ride the trail. Be sure to carry a map of the area and walkie talkies or cell phones in case of emergencies. Planning ahead will help ensure a great time on the ATV trail.
