If you are looking for some great ATV opportunities, you have no further to go than Cow Mountain Recreation Management Area. This awesome park system offers amazing views of Ukiah and Lake County as well as a full 60,000 acre park area. Unbelievable!
Two of the very cool things about Cow Mountain are the creek and mountain ridge that separate the areas. Imagine the fun you can have zipping through creek beds on your ATV. And don't forget the ATV thrills while you work your way up and down mountainous terrain.
If you like ATVing in diverse areas, Cow Mountain has it all. There are over 31 miles of streams and 13 water reservoirs ready for you to splash down and tackle. And you are sure to encounter a few of the locals, like the native blacktail deer, bears, and maybe even some wild turkeys. The beauty of the surrounding area mixed with the wildlife really make this an ideal area for scenic ATVing if you like to take it easy.
This area is not for the beginning ATVer, unless they exercise extreme restraint. You will want to ride your ATV freely through the beautiful countryside, so be sure to brush up on those safety rules.
The northern area of Cow Mountain is not accessible to ATVers, but there are plenty of opportunities in the north for hiking, biking, hunting, horseback riding, camping and picnicking. Be sure to include that in your ATV trip if you like to break up the activities with different activities.
The southern area is an ATVers paradise. The trails systems are intricate and expansive, but the do not connect to each other. So, be sure to check out the trail maps before heading out on your ATV excursion. You will want to make sure that you end up where you want to be.
