Croom Motorcycle Area was established in 1973 through the dedicated efforts of The Florida Trail Riders and the Department of Agriculture. The Croom Motorcycle Area is the only state property in Florida dedicated to the needs of off-highway motorcycle and ATV riders.
Off highway motorcycle and ATV users will find many miles of trails from easy to challenging, within the areas 2,600 acres. The terrain ranges from hardwood hammocks and tight scrubs, to numerous pits left from discontinued mining operations.
Fees and Permits
Effective each July 1, annual permits are required for each motorcycle and ATV using the Croom Motorcycle Area.
Annual permits are good for riding your ATV the entire year (July through June). Fees are posted at the entrance gate and are pro-rated throughout the entire year. Payments can be made by cash and travelers checks only, and can be made at the entrance gate house.
You must have a valid permit to ride your ATV in Croom Motorcycle Area Campground. No ATV riders under the age of 16 unless accompanied by an adult and helmets are a requirement for all ATV riders (and just plain common sense)!
Overnight camping is available at the Croom Motorcycle Area Campground. The current fees are posted at the campground. Electrical hook-up is available for an additional charge. Croom has strict rules for ATVers who camp, any refuse generated must be disposed of in either one of the bins or taken back out with you.
Croom has a lot of challenges for both new and experienced ATV riders, if you are planning to be in this area, definitely make it a destination for your next ATV ride.
