There is a lot of planning to do when you're thinking about making an overnight camping trip during your ATV ride and the things you take could make the difference of a good time or a bad one.
First, make sure your ATV is in tip-top shape and ready for the fun. Check everything on your vehicle including the oil, plugs and tires. Giving your ATV a pre-ride inspection is a great head's up for a good, carefree time.
Another important thing to take along is to be sure you have an adequate tool box and a good first aid kit.
Shelter and bedding are the basic priorities when camping. So, one of the first things to pack for your overnight ATV trip is the tent. You will want a tarp to protect all your gear from the elements. A good sleeping bag will serve your sleeping needs.
Now come the food essentials you will need for your overnight ATV trip. Water is a must to bring, along with food. A small cooler to put it all in and to protect it from nosy, hungry critters is a good idea. A portable mess kit that includes a small can opener and charcoal for getting a fire going.
You may also want to pack chuck box items such as salt and pepper, herbs and spices, cooking oil, paper towels, etc.
Cleanliness is important, even when camping out, so bring the basics like, your tooth brush and paste, wash rag, some towels, etc. You will need some cleaning items for keeping your camping area neat and tidy. Some of these items are a broom, some rags, dish pan, etc.
Clothes is next on the list of things to bring. Depending on the weather and the time of year, will determine which clothes you will want to take. Logic comes into play here, but do remember, boots and rain gear, and a laundry bag to put the dirty ones in.
Lastly, bring a bag to put your trash and other refuse in, remember if you bring it in with you on your ATV, bring it out and you will be doing your part to preserve the integrity of the wilderness.
