This is a great place to ride your ATV with your buddies on the weekend. It is a wooded area and reflects the days gone by. There is lots of history in these woods, along with wonderful trails for you to escape on with your ATV.
This forest is open for ATVing from April 1 through November 30. While out tooling around these trails on your ATV, make sure you stop when you come upon the remnant of the old Richland iron furnace.
One thing you must keep in mind, these ATV trails are open during the time of year that coinsides with hunting season. If it happens to be hunting season when you're going to ride your ATV, there are a few things you must do to protect your safety.
Wear orange, this will enable the hunters to see you better. Make noise, even with a muffler installed, your ATV will make a certain amount of noise, however if you stop your ATV, having a whistle on hand to let the hunters know you are in the area would be a good idea for your safety.
One thing you must do before heading out on your ATV is do a complete maintenance on your vehicle. This is most important because you want it in tip top shape. Make sure your brakes are working good and that the fluids are clean and full. Don't forget the tires. Check the tread and the air pressure too. You don't want a blow out to happen when you are ATVing.
Richland Furnace is a fun ride for you and your ATV, next time you are in Ohio, take on this ATV trail!
