The ATV trail at Grandy Dancer is where the most experienced ATV's go to challenge the terrain and skill needed to succeed on these difficult ATV trails.
This is a 31 mile trail that starts in Danbury Wisconsin and precedes north through Minnesota, and continues back into Wisconsin. To get there, just start in Pine County, then from Hinckley go east on Highway 48,go north on County Road 173 to Tamarack Forest Road. The whole length of this fabulous trail is open to ATVs. If your ATV is over 900 lbs, then you are limited to only the upper 25 miles of the trail.
Remember safety is the top priority of the sport of ATVing. It can become very dangerous if you are not prepared and don't know how to navigate your ATV safely over different types of terrain.
Make sure you do a complete systems check on your ATV. This is very important because mechanical failure is the number one problem while out ATVing. Wear the appropriate clothing, which includes your helmet, gloves, goggles and boots. Long sleeve shirts and pants also helps protect yourself. The terrain of these trails are old abandoned railroad grades, so make sure your ATV's tires are in good shape. Check the air pressure and tread too.
Always let someone know where you are and when you plan on returning. A cell phone is a good piece of equipment to have while out riding your ATV. Walkie talkies are good, if out riding with a group and you get separated. Never ride double or side by side on any trail. It is very dangerous and just not safe. Pay attention to your surroundings and stay alert to everything that is going on. There are others out and about on their ATV's or other toys and accidents are always possible.
