All of Austrailia is ATV heaven. Its rugged terrain and vast plains make it ideal ground to ride your ATV upon. The Wedding Mountain range is bordered by heavily forested slopes and some great ATV trails and legend has it that gold is buried in this area!
There is a camping area at the southwestern foot of the Weddins. It's not quite primative camping, There are fireplaces, a couple of picnic tables in the shade of the native cypress and pit toilets all provided for your use. There is even a rainwater tank, but go easy on it. There isn't much to go around. Best to pack in your own water on your ATV.
The beginning of the ATV run is on extremely dry and flat plains that are just below the Weddins. Then a graded dirt road will take you into the Wedding State Forest which is at the foothills of the Weddin Mountains. This forest is open woodland, and you'll mainly see cypress pine, stringybark and ironbark along the ATV trails. There are a number of bush camping areas that are permissible to set up primitive camping at, remember though, if you pack it in on your ATV, pack it out.
The ATV trail ends in the town of Grenfell. It's a small place with not much more than a bank building, 5 hotels and friendly residents. One of the hotels here, The Railway, has been used in a number of films. If you want to park your ATV for the night and spend it in comfort it will cost you merely $12 per person, $15 if you want breakfast added onto that tab.
Weddins is an easy ride with a scenic view and great ATV riding opportunities. If you're looking for an pleasant get away for you and your friends, take a tour of the Weddin Mountains ATV trails.
