Imagine yourself glancing up at the clock and seeing it's 10:30 in the morning and you can't remember if you ate breakfast or not. For that matter, you're not sure if you fed the cats or took out the trash. You check your notes and see, yes indeed; you have eaten breakfast, fed the cats, and taken out the trash. Imagine yourself looking at the clock on the wall; noticing the time is 11:15 in the morning and wondering all this again. You've just experienced a side effect of Traumatic Brain Injury. Over half of all closed head injuries are the consequences of an impact while not wearing proper head protection.
If you are riding your motorcycle and you have in impact, when your motorcycle stops suddenly, usually your body will continue moving forward at the same rate of speed. The forward motion will normally throw your head in front of you and guess what's going to take the major part of the impact? Your head.
A helmet can alleviate a lot of injuries suffered by an impact and certainly countless lives have been saved. Over the past several years, tremendous strides have been made in the design of helmets to make them out of sturdier materials, lighter weight and all around comfort. If you think helmets don't look cool, look again. Helmets are designed with every taste in mind and some of the designs go from mild to wild. There is truly something for everyone. It used to be that someone with a small head had to settle for a larger sized helmet and make it fit by adding foam themselves - now helmets are designed for all head shapes and sizes.
You can avoid serious injury by wearing a helmet when you ride and look good doing it too!
