The Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area has a blast of a place to ride your ATV. The South Jetty to Siltcoos area is a fun ride on your ATV because of the difference in the terrains you will experience. It will be very sandy at certain points and flat and easy to navigate on others.
The South Jetty/Goose Pasture is located less than a mile from Florence, and this popular ATV riding area can be accessed from South Jetty Road on the northern end, and Siltcoos Beach Access Road from the south end either way will get on the ATV trails.
The OHV area is best known for South Jetty Hill, which is fondly called "Show-Off Hill" by OHV enthusiasts. You will find large sand dunes and five tree islands within the riding area boundaries and the sand dunes allow for a lot of showing off on your ATV!
If you are a newer or inexperienced ATVer, these are great dunes to hone your control skills on your ATV and learn how to properly and safely climb sand dunes both going up and coming down. There's a definite technique to it.
A Noise Buffer Closure is in place on the eastern boundary of the ATV riding area so be sure you have your muffler installed before riding in that area, additionally, the beach adjacent to riding areas is open to OHV access, but the area has a 10 p.m. curfew.
There are Forest Service Campgrounds with sand access in this area are Driftwood II. Other Campgrounds available in this area are Oddfellows, Sand Dunes Frontier, and Woahink Lake Resort. Honeyman State Park Campground has seasonal sand access from November-April.
