It used to be that when you rode your ATV, you wore whatever gloves you had handy. Younger riders wound up wearing gloves that were too large, adult riders wore ill fitting gloves and both types of riders endangered themselves by not having a good grip on their ATVs.
Gloves have come a long way in a very short period of time. Many of the manufacturers of riding apparel for both motocross and ATV have done a lot of research about what was really needed by the riders for the ultimate in comfort and safety.
Let's face it, if your gloves are bunched up around your fingers and the palms, you aren't going to have a very good grip on your ATV which is dangerous not only to yourself but anyone that happens to be riding around you.
Most of the modern-made gloves of today for ATV riding and motocross riding aren't the heavy, hard to handle items they once were. Nowadays materials used to make these gloves are lightweight, yet super strong, poly foam materials and the addition of spandex in many makes of gloves, make them super flexible and more comfortable than ever. Additionally, most riding gloves are now precurved to keep the fabric of the glove taute around your hand and fingers when you ride and yet the fabric the gloves are made from allows your hands to breath so there is no build up of sweat and heat which will cause fatigue.
Replace your gloves when they look worn and if you aren't already using a newer pair of gloves, for safety and comfort's sake, look into getting yourself a pair before your next ride.
