Another common sense rule for snowmobile riding is always wear your helmet, even for a short jaunt, you need to protect yourself. Second, don’t race your snowmobile, drive at a moderate pace to allow yourself to drive defensively. Third, carry a first aid kit with you just in case of an emergency, it isn't a common occurrence, but just in case, be prepared - the emergency kit you pack along may very well save someone else. Try to avoid snowmobiling across large bodies of water, you can't be sure its hard frozen. Last, dress warmly, when snowmobiling, you can lose over 70% of your body heat through your head, dress in layers and always wear a thermal hat under your helmet!
