Like the majority of states, Iowa has regulations that you must follow while you ride your ATV in the state on federal and state managed lands. In order to ride in Iowa you must have your ATV registered with the state's Recreation Management Agency. You must pay a small fee to do this, but normally does not cost much, though the price does vary from county to county. After you have registered, the agency will gave you stickers to put on your ATV. The minimum age for ATV riding in Iowa is 12 years old, and all riders must have a safety certificate in order to ride. All of these rules apply only if you are riding on public land. If you or someone you know owns private land that is ATV friendly, then you do not have to follow these rules, though you should remember to be safe. Have fun ATVing in Iowa.
