Gallagher Lake and Van Eppe Pass ATV opportunities are just that, opportunities. There are not as many open areas to ride as the growing number of ATV users would like to see. Many of the existing trails in Washington State are difficult to extreme for the skill levels of most average ATVers. It is hard to find trails all members of the family can comfortably drive.
Within the Cle Elum Ranger District the trailhead is 10 miles north of Lake Cle Elum on road 4330. There are nearly 12 miles of trail here in what is a natural drainage area. The nice thing is, these trails are ATV user friendly; any family member can handle the ride with no gut wrenching tension. You can ride up and down in a way that does not interfere with enjoying time out in the country.
This is a smaller area within the bigger context of the Wenatchee National Forest. There are other places nearby you can ride an ATV, so when you exhaust this trail site you can move on, say pick this up in the morning and by afternoon find something else. It's just nice to be able to get out and relax with some big toys, break into your stride, and then move on to greater challenges. It is a treat for the whole family to be together and have a tranquil time for a day of ATV riding. Take your ATV out for a spin, and just breathe in the fresh air and see for yourself, this is actually a fun place to play.
