If you're newer to ATV riding or you've recently gotten an ATV for the first time, you probably can't wait to get out there and ride your machine on all the gravel, inclines and downhills that you can.
If you have to opportunity to take some riding lessons, do so. Experienced riders can show you a lot of tips and trick for handling your ATV but sometimes people pick up bad habits along the way. You can take some safety classes and incorporate the good advice from other riders into safe riding habits.
Handling inclines correctly is one of the best lessons you can learn on an ATV. If you don't learn to handle this correctly, you can wind up tipping your ATV and risking possible injury. When you're taking an incline, do not lean backwards. This can cause your ATV to tip backwards with you on it and as with most injuries that occur when riding, it is due to bad and unsafe techniques used when riding an ATV.
Lean forward and go slow and steady. Keep your motion as smooth as possible and keep moving forward, never stop on an incline. You need to always be moving forward at a good rate of speed, but don't attack it too fast and definitely not too slow. Watch how other riders go up inclines, they get a good steady rate of speed and maintain it up the incline. And use your own good personal judgment, if you think an incline looks too steep, it probably is.
Inclines can be a fun and challenging part of ATVing. Ride them with caution and you will always have a good, safe time on your ATV.
