When you're trail riding on your ATV, eventually you will encounter gravel. It can be a lot of fun to dig your tires in these terrain conditions. There are just a few tips to make handling your ATV in these conditions a little easier.
First of all, before you ride and obviously you will be wearing a helmet, make sure you are wearing full eye protection. The full-face visor that many helmets have isn't adequate protection to keep a piece of flying gravel from hitting your square in the eye. Spring for a good pair of riding goggles that fully encloses around your eyes. Plus you will be protected from not only flying gravel and rocks (also known as roost), you will also not experience the dreaded dust flying up in your eyes. A chest protector can go a long way towards improving your riding experience. If you're riding with a group on gravelly conditions, an ATV wheel can kick up a rock and send it flying in your general direction with amazing force. A little money spent on good safety gear will go a long way when compared to the high cost of an emergency room visit and losing the sight in an eye or other injury.
If it is your first time riding on gravel, be sure to practice your handling skills of your ATV on flat surface before you try handling inclines and down hills.
With these few tips, riding your ATV on gravel roads can be a blast.
