Tennessee is a great State for owning and riding an ATV. Besides the great terrain and good riding weather a good part of the year,Tennessee does not have a huge amount of regulations for being an ATV owner.
The State of Tennessee does not have a minimum age for ATV riders and you are not required to register your ATV. The only main requirements come if you will be riding your ATV on any federally managed lands, such at State or National Forests, like Cherokee National Forest or Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. In those cases you must you must get a riding permit that is prominently displayed and your brakes and headlights must be in good working condition. Also, you must wear a helmet and eye protection in the form of safety goggles whenever you are riding your ATV. A licensed adult must accompany any ATVers under the age of 16-years of age, also on an ATV in the National Forest areas. In order to preserve the pristine nature of these ATV trails, periodically trails are shut down and new ones are opened to allow the vegetation to reclaim itself and in doing so the trails remain lush and ready for a new generation of ATVers.
Riding with a group of like-minded ATVers can be fun. If you're looking for a group of ATV enthusiasts to ride with, there are some groups you can join up with like the ATV addicts and their website is at https://www.atvaddicts.net/.
