Buck Meadows is a way to spend a fun day with a group of multi level ATV users. Buck Meadows is accessed, legally, through Riders Campground and Manastash Campground. The lower trails just outside Manastash Campground are actually old roads that have been converted into ATV trails. This is super riding for anyone, but especially beginners and intermediate ATV drivers. You can zoom around without falling into a bottomless hole, or disappearing out of view - a big deal for people watching kids ride their ATVs for the day.
The trails rising higher up the slopes can become difficult for most ATV drivers. This double trail ride allows for the group to breakout and the most experienced ATV drivers can take a crack at a difficult ride, and this is a difficult ride. Because ATVs have only been around for a decade or so, many existing ATV trails have been carved out of old logging roads, or reworked jeep/truck roads. Some of these roads are simply not what an ATV driver would consider optimal. They are too narrow in spots, have ruts too deep, are in dangerous settings, or other similar problems.
Buck Meadows is just the right place for an ATV drive. It has camps, so a family can set up and have some outdoor time, and the ATVing in the lower meadow is just right for the family. For those people who want a real challenge before their weekend is up, they can always head for the higher trails and take their chances.
