ATVing at Oakley Mountain Trail System in Georgia

The State of Georgia has some great ATVing areas. This is definitely one of them. The trail system has been recently redone and is in renewed condition for riding your ATV. Previously, newer and intermediate riders of ATVs had avoided this trail system due to the extreme rockiness of some areas.

The new trail system has bypassed the rocky areas and the trail is a lot smoother of a ride. One of the parking areas is now paved as well. There is now a $5 fee to ride this area that was previously free, but those funds go towards upkeep of these trails.

This ATV trail is open from April 1st until December 31st of each year. This trail system is actual three separate trails that interconnect totaling just under 15-miles. Some parts of these trails can be steep, so make sure you know how to ride inclines and hills before attempting these trails. If you have plans to visit Tallulah Gorge, plan to go early. Only 100 people per day may go into the gorge and that number is usually met before noon each day.

If you're interested in riding your ATV at Oakley Mountain. Directions to north parking lot: From Clayton, go west on U.S. 76 for 6.8 miles. Turn left on Charlie Mountain Road and proceed until it dead-ends. Turn right on Bridge Creek Road and go 2 miles, where the road dead-ends at Lake Burton Dam Road. Turn right and drive 1.6 miles to the entrance road on the left. Enjoy your ride at Oakley Mountain!
