Cow Mountain has an amusing name and is a great place to take your ATV. This ATV park has over 60,000 acres available for your enjoyment. This is a great place to spend a weekend ATVing with your friends. The riding area is huge and would be impossible to cover in a day or even a weekend, but if you choose to set up a primitive camp, you will be able to cover a lot of ground on your ATV and have a great time doing it.
A creek and a mountain ridge separate the areas of riding. If you like a lot of diverse terrain when you ride your ATV, you'll find it at Cow Mountain. There are over 31 miles of streams and 13 water reservoirs ready for you to ford. Don't be surprised if you find the local wildlife residents such as the native black tail deer, bears, and wild turkeys checking you out from afar.
The northern area of Cow Mountain is not open to ATVers any longer. However, the southern side is an ATVers paradise. The trails systems are intricate and winding. Most do not connect to each other, so plan your ride in advance to make sure you can hit the right loop around to get back to your trailhead.
There are also some steep, rocky areas just before the creek area. If you have never attempted to climb with your ATV on rocky terrain, have an experienced ATVer show you the safe way to do it. There is a lot of fun waiting for you at the Cow Mountain Recreation Management Area, make that your next ATVing weekend destination with your ATVing buddies.
