This is a great ATV trail for beginning ATVers. This ATV trail has a lot of good features for those riders that want to develop their ATV skills and learn proper handling techniques. If you have the basic skills for handling your ATV but you want to learn to ride on a trail, this is a great place to work on those maneuvering skills and this in turn builds confidence in inexperienced ATV riders.
Also, these are multi-use trails and you are likely to run into the following types of traffic: hiking, biking, backpacking, horseback riding, dog sledding, ATV, skiing, snowmobiling, canoeing/kayaking. This ATV trail is only 12-miles in length and features a couple of loop arounds so if you are ready to turn around at any point during your ride, it is easy to do so.
To ride the Gulf of Alaska Trail, it begins in Eklutna Lake Valley, in the midst of the towering Chugach Mountains is a scenic area for year round recreation on your ATV. The lakeside trail is an old road, very easy and wide and remember to have your ATVs for the learning period. There are usually a good amount of users to this ATV area and be sure and get yourself a map and some extra clothing. The weather in Alaska can change to quickly and you and your ATV can get caught out in a bad situation that can develop quickly if you aren't aware and prepared. Layered clothing is the rule of the ride here.
