Louisiana has some Wildlife Management Areas (WMA) that are fantastic opportunities to ride your ATV. Most of the areas have very limited riding seasons but are very much worth a visit.
The DEWEY WILLS WMA has various trails that are open for ATV use during hunting season or September through December. There is one main ATV trail in this WMA that is open all year round. Primitive camping is allowed and you can have a great time riding your ATV through the bottomland hardwoods forests where the wildlife viewing opportunities abound.
Another great ATV riding destination is located at the Little River WMA. Here you will find ATV trails that open during hunting season only and there is also a designated year round ATV trail. The ATV trails are well marked and easy to follow. There are abundant pine and hardwood forests to drive through in this area. Camping is allowed, but only primitive camping. SABINE WMA- has a good number of ATV trails but they are only open during hunting season. Primitive and RV camping is allowed although there are no RV hookups. There are a good number of hardwood forests to ride your ATV through. Bring your camera as these are very scenic ATV trails and you're sure to find a photo worthy memory to shoot from this ATV ride.
To minimize the human impact on these wildlife management areas, the ATV riding season is very short, however the trails are easy to navigate and very well maintained making this a relaxing and fun destination for your next ATV outing.
