Beartown State Forest is a thrilling ATV run to make. It is equally good to ride in the summer and winter, as the riding becomes a challenging ride in both seasons.
The Beartown State Forest is located in western Massachusetts. Just take the turnpike to exit 2. From there go to route 102 west to route 7. Follow that till you come to route 23. Go east to Monterey, and then follow the brown signs.
Beartown has just over 16 miles of rugged, undeveloped terrain for you to explore on your ATV. This is the third largest state forest in the state of Massachusetts.
The riding challenges here are many. There are slopes that drop sharply into a valley below; you will see many kinds of trees including the resident Red Oak and the Red Maple. Beyond the trees there is a pond located at about the 3-mile mark on the trail. If you park your ATV and walk through the trees about 100 yards, you can see where the beavers have made a once swamp pit into a lovely beaver pond.
These are much-used multi-use trails, so be on the lookout for other riders, mountain bikers, hikers, and other ATV riders. Beartown is a great place to spend the day on your ATV, the scenery and challenging trails make this one great ATV ride!
