At only four miles long, the North Elk ATV Trail isn't the longest trail in the world, but it is very nice, especially considering how secluded it is. Open from May until November, the North Elk ATV Trail is open to all sorts of traffic, from ATVs to snowmobiles, so be aware you may encounter other types of riders on this trail.
To get to the North Elk ATV Trail from Meeker, head east onto State Highway 13 for about one mile and then make a right on County Road 8 for about 20 miles until you reach the Ford New Castle Road. Once you have reached this road, take a right and keep going for around 11 miles until you get to the North Elk ATV Trail. The trail is somewhat hard to find because there are not any markers, but follow these directions and you should not have too much trouble finding it.
The North Elk ATV Trail is one of the less used trails in the area, which means that you will have a better chance at an isolated ATV ride through the aspen and oak covered hillsides, which is a simply sublime experience.
