The La Garita Creek Trail is open from spring to fall, each year and this scenic 11 mile long trail is operated and maintained by the Rio Grande National Forest. You will need to get a permit and have an inspection of your ATV by the rangers prior to riding this trail. They will also require you to have your noise muffler and spark arrestor in place.
Your ATV expedition at the La Garita Creek Trail starts in low country and you steadily begin to climb up towards the Peak of Mesa Mountain, which has a gigantic elevation of about 12,900 feet.
