Ocala has been undergoing some big changes in their ATV riding areas. Nearly 8,300 acres located in the southwest portion of the forest have been closed to ATV riders as the trails are being allowed to reclaim themselves. The Forest created additional trails for your riding pleasure - be certain to get the most currently available map to plot your ride so you don't attempt to ride your ATV over the now closed areas.
Ocala has some excellent ATVing. The sights to see are many and the ATV trails are rated from easy to challenging. No matter what your riding skill level on your ATV, there is a great ride waiting for you here.
This is a huge area to ride your ATV in; there is no way to see it all in a day or even a long weekend of ATVing with your friends. The trails are open from dawn til dusk and if you are riding in the early morning or early evening hours, you are sure to see some of the local wildlife residents such as deer.
ATVs and motorcycles are allowed on these trails so be aware that other riders will be on them with you. They are one-way trails and there is little room in many areas for passing. The trails themselves are lushly foliaged and some areas are so dense the trees will block out the sunlight from above.
There is only a $6 fee for parking and those fees go towards the continued maintenance of the ATV trail systems. If you choose to make a long weekend out of riding this area, camping is available but there is no shower or water located at the campsites.
