Otter Trail is the ideal place to go riding on your 4-wheeler. This is just one of the trails in the vast forests of Washington and Jefferson National Forests. As with all National Forests, make sure you have your ATV permit displayed in a clearly visible location and also make sure that you have your spark arrestor and muffler installed prior to riding these lands.
Otter ATV trails are part of a looping network all connected by 19 miles of trails designed specifically for 4-wheelers. There are other types of traffic on these trails as well, including hikers, mountain bikers and motorcycle riders.
If you happen to be riding your 4-wheeler in the early morning or early evening hours, your chances of seeing some of the local wildlife citizens is high. Hunting is permitted in these areas; so before venturing out, make sure you check to see what time of year it is, as far as this sport is concerned. If you decide to ride your 4-wheeler during this time, for your protection, wear a bright orange vest as you ride your 4-wheeler in these areas.
