Located in South Central Colorado, McNassar Gulch 4-wheeler riding area is a great place for the experienced 4-wheeler rider who might have felt their rides were missing some challenges.
This is some very rough terrain to take in your 4-wheeler into. The McNassar Gulch is managed by the San Isabel National Forest and asks that you have your 4-wheeler permit prominently placed on your 4-wheeler where it is clearly visible at all times and that you have your spark arrestor/muffler in place prior to riding these lands.
Since these 4-wheeler trails are rated as difficult with a lot of steep road, do not attempt to ride these 4-wheeler trails alone and having a winch kit installed wouldn't be a bad idea either. This 4-wheeler trail is only 1.5 miles long and has an elevation of less than 1,000 feet but it is extremely steep and rough. This 4-wheeler trail begins on South Fork Lake Creek Road and along the first mile there are a few switchbacks in case you want to loop back or if you are finding the terrain too rough or beyond your 4-wheeler handling experience level.
These are multi-use roads and other traffic including other 4-wheeler riders, horseback riders, motorcyclists, and mountain bikers are all likely sights along these 4-wheeler trails as your ride.
The end of the 4-wheeler trail is at a private road. Hiking is permitted beyond the gate to the private road, but no further 4-wheeler traffic is allowed. Along with the rough 4-wheeler ride, this is a very scenic route to take with your 4-wheeler and wildflowers are abundant throughout most of the riding season, bring along your camera to capture some fantastic shots!
