You will never have to worry about finding great 4-wheeler trails in New Mexico. Whether your preference is sand or heavily foliaged trails, New Mexico can offer you both!
Located in the flat lands outside Roswell, Haystack Mountain OHV Recreation Area has a small mound that adds a little "oomph" to your ride. Also located in the vicinity is Mescalero Sands North Dunes OHV Area 610-acre North Dunes are OHV, and picnicking paradise. The South Dune areas are hard to reach and are also very difficult to reach via any form of vehicle.
Carson National Forest Red River OHV there are several different districts available to for 4-wheeler riders. There is also lodging available for those of you that want to make a long weekend out of your ride.
Lincoln National Forest this is a great 4-wheeler ride to be sure, but be aware, they are putting some very strict measures in place to preserve the trails and wilderness. Be environmentally friendly in your 4-wheeler. Let the saying "If you bring it in, take it out with you" be your motto. If we each do our part, we will have fantastic wilderness trails to ride for generations to come.
A great recommendation is that you get one of the maps from the Bureau of Land Management. These maps show 4-wheeler trails, which can be helpful because once you get inside of some of these trails, it can be difficult to find your way back out again without one.
