Any 4-wheeler rider is sure to benefit greatly by finding out more about the Colorado Off-Highway Vehicle Coalition (COHVCO). They work very hard to represent, assist, educate, and empower 4-wheeler/OHV recreational riders in the safe use of the off highway riding areas throughout Colorado.
COHVCO is an environmental organization that advocates and promotes the standards put forth by Treadlightly to help preserve the lands for the enjoyment of future 4-wheeler riders. Such as how to navigate your 4-wheeler over muddy terrain so as not to impair the integrity of the land, leaving no trace of your ride, and when to open up new trails to allow old trails to reclaim themselves so future generations of 4-wheeler riders will have just as wonderful of an exploration experience as you and your 4-wheeler have in the present.
Also, COHVCO does a lot of volunteering and monetary donations to support legal efforts to protect 4-wheeler riding privileges in Colorado. They spend a lot of time fighting unfair legislation that would deny 4-wheeler riders the right to ride.
Somewhere in all of this 4-wheeler/OHV activism, they find time to participate in road clean ups and organize trail rides. This is a great group that promotes safety, good riding practices, and community service. If you're looking for a great group to join up with in Colorado, check out the COHVCO!
