Originally, the 2,000 acres of land purchased by local Anderson County timber man Mac McCullom was with the intent to harvest land for the prime cuts of wood. Then a random comment from an employee, made McCullom look into the feasibility of using the acres to develop a 4-wheeler riding area.
McCullom traveled to parks in New York, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma and Arkansas when he was developing the idea for River Run ATV Park. The result has been a 4-wheeler riding park that has been a huge success. The land was originally acres and acres of swamps, small lakes and oil field roads that have been turned into hills, valleys and riding trails for 4-wheeling enthusiasts.
River Run, located on ACR 335 right along the Neches River, is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It features more than 50 miles of four-wheeler, dirt bike and 4X4 trails and more than 50 mud pits.
If you're looking to spend a day or so exploring the area with your favorite group of riding buddies, there are sixty RV hook-ups, hot showers, a high-pressure car wash area, two beach areas and two rope-swings that carry visitors for a splash into the Neches River are also features of the park. In the future, River Run is looking to add a figure-8 race track and is looking to add an additional 100 RV hookups.
