In late July, Iowa added an eighth 4-wheeler park to their rosters and this one is near Fort Dodge. The Gypsum City ATV Park opened and the hours are from sunrise to sunset daily. There is a small fee to ride this area as more and more 4-wheeler enthusiasts discover this new park to ride, the attendance is growing.
The park is located at 2390 Mill Road, south of Fort Dodge just off U.S. Highway 20.
As with most 4-wheeler facilities, certain rules apply to all riders who wish to use this venue. Any 4-wheeler or motorcycle wishing to use the trails or riding areas must be able to show a valid operator license and a valid registration for their vehicle from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
Safety gear is a requirement and that includes helmets for all vehicle operators. No riders under the age of 12 are allowed to drive a 4-wheeler in the park. All riders from 12 to 18 must be able to show a valid safety certificate and they must be riding with a licensed 4-wheeler rider. Underage riders are not permitted to ride the trails alone.
The riding area is great fun and most of the trails in this area are rated as easy to moderate. There are plans to expand the facility in future and add additional conveniences as well as some more challenging riding areas. If you're looking for a new place to ride your 4-wheeler in the State of Iowa, make a trip to the Gypsum City ATV Park and have a great day of fun with your family and friends.
