There are two main kinds of 4-wheeler terrain in Sedona, hard packed soil and loose, light sand. Make sure you have the right tires for the terrain and choose your 4-wheeler ride accordingly. You can ride your 4-wheeler in the Coconino National Forest or you can choose to take a guided tour around some of the areas that are off the beaten path in Sedona. If you choose to take a 4-wheeler tour, you will get a fully narrated tour and history of the area and bring your camera, as the panoramic views are incredible in Sedona.
The Coconino National Forest has designated areas for 4-wheeler riding and the trails are clearly marked so even the newest riders won't have a problem staying on the trail system. The National Forest will require that you have your 4-wheeler registered with the State of Arizona if you're a resident or you'll have to show your valid driver's license if you are visiting from another state. You must have a spark arrestor and muffler installed no matter what time of year your ride in the Coconino National Forest.
