Located on the north slope of the Uintah Mountains is Wolverine Ridge. This is a fun ATV trail system that is located right on the Bear River. The system offers quick and easy loop rides, plus the brutal and long Wolverine Loop which should be reserved for the more experienced 4-wheeler riders looking for a little challenge in their ride.
The base altitude is 8400, peak 9500. The Wolverine Loop is 16 miles and requires 2000 vertical feet of climbing in your 4-wheeler, with some advanced-tech sections. For an easy, family-type ride, try the 2.3-mile dirt road to Lily Lake. If you happen to visiting these 4-wheeler trails in the summer, Lily Lake will probably be living up to its name and be in bloom with lilies growing out of the water. Bring a camera along for this ride - Lily Lake itself is truly photo worthy.
Some of the trail system is broad-track dirt road; most is 4-wheeler-width trail. Most of the 4-wheeler trails are fairly smooth and suitable for beginning riders. The exception is the Wolverine Trail, which has rough advanced-technical sections and a brutal 500-vertical in 1/2 mile climb, where you will most likely need a buddy and a winch kit along for that section of your 4-wheeler ride. A great pair of tires like SwampFox with their heavy treads will come in very handy on this terrain.
Even though you are riding your 4-wheeler around mountains, you'd never know it. The forest is so densely foliaged there isn't a good view out at the landscape for most of your 4-wheeler ride. This means there are NO landmarks to orient yourself with and the trails are not routinely marked. Get a map and use your GPS if you have one handy. You're in for a fun adventure riding this trail system!
