Minnesota has a great number of places to ride your 4-wheeler and located in the Gilbert area is a fun little venue called Iron Range that will offer up a great time for 4-wheeler enthusiasts.
This area is located in St. Louis County, so if you are coming from Gilbert, go east on Highway 135, the entrance will be on Enterprise Trail. This particular part of the area is about 25 miles in length and is open all year, but during spring, winter, and fall, only on the weekends. When deer season is open to hunters with firearms this area is closed to 4-wheeler riders for obvious reasons.
The entire Iron Range is about 1200 acres for 4-wheeler riders to catch the thrills while enjoying the scenery. This area used to be a mining place, so it is full of iron ore pits, ore stockpiles and tailings basins. Even though this 4-wheeler area is for all levels, caution is advised at all times as the terrain can be very gravelly and loose in some places.
If you have never driven on terrain like this before, make sure you have an experienced 4-wheeler rider along for the ride to help anyone who needs to improve or learn skills for navigating their 4-wheelers on this type of terrain. Also, be sure to wear your DOT approved helmet at all times when operating your 4-wheeler and if you are the type that relies on the visor of your helmet to protect your eyes, get a pair of goggles as gravel can and will get kicked up by your own and other 4-wheelers and a piece of flying gravel hurts.
The trails are mostly loose gravel over hard pack and make for an easy ride for even the newest 4-wheeler riders which equals a great time riding for everyone!
