Ohio has a lot of great-undeveloped forest lands and 4-wheeler trails that make for some great riding. The winters are harsh in Ohio but the riding seasons for most 4-wheeler areas are from April through December which still makes for a long riding season compared to many states in the upper part of the United States.
There are some rules and regulations for riding your 4-wheeler in Ohio. The State of Ohio requires that you license your 4-wheeler with the Department of Motor Vehicles in your area. The minimum age for riding a 4-wheeler in Ohio is 12 with a licensed and registered adult who is also riding a 4-wheeler. While it is not required, the State will give you a discount on your 4-wheeler registration if you complete a State approved 4-wheeler safety course. The State of Ohio also requires that your 4-wheeler be outfitted with headlights if you're going to be driving your 4-wheeler at night. You also must have a spark arrestor and noise muffler in place if you're going to be riding your 4-wheeler on any publicly owned lands.
Ohio has one National Forest that allows 4-wheeler riding but only on the designated paths. The Wayne National Forest has many miles of 4-wheeler trails and the riding season is from April through December. You must get a riding permit at the Ranger's office in order to ride your 4-wheeler on these trails.
