Whissenhunt 4-wheeler trails are part of the Chattahoochie National Forest and are open all year around. These are multi-use trails and you are likely to encounter both motorcycle and other 4-wheeler traffic. The 4-wheeler trails are only 15 miles long with a rating of easy to ride terrain. This is a great place to bring newer or inexperienced 4-wheeler riders who need the chance to ride on some flat terrain to hone the maneuvering skills on their 4-wheelers.
The National Forest Service does ask that you stay on the designated trails only with your 4-wheeler and do not go trailblazing. 4-wheeler riders who trailblaze do serious damage to the terrain and force the closure of trails while the forest reclaims itself. That is why it is so important to stay on the posted 4-wheeler trails only, periodically these trails are closed and new trails are opened for 4-wheelering and while the forest reclaims itself
As with all National Forest Managed lands, you must have a permit clearly displayed and a muffler and spark arrestor in place. The maximum axle width for any 4-wheeler riding these trails is 48 inches. There are 700-acres of 4-wheeler trails in this Forest Area, and Whissenhunt is just one of them. Also, make sure to wear your DOT approved helmet at all times when operating your 4-wheeler, even on flat, easy terrain - if your 4-wheeler is running and you are on it, have your helmet in place on your head. Additionally, since there is a lot of loose gravel on these trails, be sure to wear your goggles. 4-wheelers can kick up a lot of debris and it's no fun when it lands in your eyes!
