Tennessee is a another very 4-wheeler friendly state. Besides the great terrain and good riding weather a good part of the year, Tennessee does not have a huge amount of regulations for being a 4-wheeler owner.
The State of Tennessee does not have a minimum age for 4-wheeler riders and you are not required to register your 4-wheeler. The only main requirements come if you will be riding your 4-wheeler on any federally managed lands, such at State or National Forests, like Cherokee National Forest or Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. In those cases you must you must get a riding permit that is prominently displayed and your brakes and headlights must be in good working condition. Also, you must wear a helmet and eye protection in the form of safety goggles whenever you are riding your 4-wheeler. A licensed adult must accompany any 4-wheelerers under the age of 16-years of age, also on a 4-wheeler in the National Forest areas.
In order to preserve the pristine nature of these 4-wheeler trails, periodically trails are shut down and new ones are opened to allow the vegetation to reclaim itself and in doing so the trails remain lush and ready for a new generation of 4-wheelerers.
